Almost every six weeks, we will study a novel. (The exception is during certain units that emphasize other genres, such as poetry or mass media.) When the class begins a novel study, your child will receive a detailed reading schedule, and I will inform you via e-mail that the same schedule is available on this website. While we do spend some of our class time reading, there will almost always be some reading to finish at home.
Please note that reading homework is in addition to spelling and vocabulary assignments listed on the spelling and vocabulary sheet distributed every other Monday. However, I do adjust assignments occasionally based on how much we get done in class and how much work the students have in all of their classes.
Your child will receive a hole-punched copy of containing the reading schedule for our first novel on Monday, August 24.
