Journalism

In addition to teaching Language Arts, I teach the journalism elective at SMA.  Seventh and eighth graders are eligible to take the one-semester journalism course with instructor permission.  The class typically contains no more than 10 students who are responsible, self-motivated, hard-working individuals.

Journalism students work on the SLC and SMA yearbooks as well as other projects involving photography and graphic design.  Journalism students use the school’s digital cameras and Photoshop CS3 and InDesign CS3 in class.  Those who own digital cameras are encouraged to bring these to school for photography assignments, as well.

This course may require out-of-school activities such as extracurricular photography assignments and meetings to work on yearbook pages as deadlines approach.
